Gym Gear Gone After Panic-Buyers Move to the Next Item on the Chopping Block
Gym Gear Gone After Panic-Buyers Move to the Next Item on the Chopping Block

Tim Trotman – 23rd March 2020

Amidst all the panic-buying in Australia, exercise equipment is the next product on the frontlines to be sold out, joining the rest of the “essential” items like toilet paper, hand sanitiser, pasta and rice.

It appears as though whilst West Australians steel themselves in preparation for self-isolation, some appear to be keen to remain fit as they begin to work from home, with home work-out gear being sold out across the shelves.

This came as a surprise when a Kmart in Morley had sold out the majority of its fitness/gym equipment, with the only remaining gear being a few hand dumbells, everything else was gone.

It comes as Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his announcement to close the borders to international travellers entering the country as of the 21st of March, instigating fears that lockdowns of gyms, pool and recreation facilities may be the next to fall victim to closure.

At this time, the number of coronavirus cases in Australia exceeds 1,000, according to the Department of Health, with WA only having around 140 confirmed cases of the virus.

If you are feeling slightly sick or have been in contact with someone who has just returned from over east, please consider self-isolating for 14-days to observe for any symptoms.
