Five injured in Queensland coal mine explosion

An investigation is underway into the cause of an explosion which seriously injured five mine site workers in rural Queensland yesterday.

While the suspected cause for the explosion is the ignition of methane gas, investigations are ongoing.

The five workers caught in the explosion were flown to Brisbane overnight with four of them fighting for their lives and the fifth being left in a serious condition.

Trade links may open ‘bubble’ borders to Asia

Australians may have more than just one option when it comes to overseas travel in the near future as the man tasked with leading Australia’s COVID-19 recovery has brought forward his intention to expand the travel bubble to include parts of Asia on top of New Zealand.

Neville Power leads the COVID19 coordination commission set with the task of guiding Australia’s economic recovery.

According to an interview with The West Australian, Mr Power explained China, Japan and Korea would be on the radar to open borders due to very significant trade links Australia has with these countries.

Premier urges WA: “We’re not out of the woods yet”

A plan for slowly driving WA away from COVID-19 restrictions may be released as early as this weekend.

This comes after 7 days straight without any new cases of COVID-19.

Mark McGowan said, “While WA has responded very strongly to the COVID-19 threat we are not out of the woods yet,” he also stated that changes will only be made where it is safe to do so.

There are currently only 14 active cases of the virus in the state, which includes seven people in hospital and three in an intensive care unit.
