PM Announces ‘Free’ childcare

The Federal Government has announced that changes are being put in place for ‘free’ childcare during this pandemic.

Approximately one million families will receive free child care in an effort to relieve financial stress from the individuals and businesses involved in this area.

The plan means the government will pay 50% of the original wage before parents start pulling their kids from child care centres providing the childcare centre stays open and doesn’t charge families for their services. 

Prince Charles on the mend after COVID19

Prince Charles has recovered from a mild case of the coronavirus after coming out of self isolation on Monday.

The Prince released a statement for the first time since contracting COVID-19 saying he will remain socially distant and in isolation, ending the statement with an inspiring message.

“We must stay hopeful and put our faith in ourselves and one and other,” the statement read.

Jailtime for frontline staff abusers

New laws have been put in place to protect frontline workers from coronavirus related assault or threats.

The culprits could face ten years for assault and seven years for threats under the laws.

WA Police Minister, Michelle Roberts said the laws will be harsher to protect police, doctors, nurses, hospital or health service staff, bus drivers, prison officers, firefighters, SES, and ambulance officers.

“It shows those on the frontline fighting this pandemic, that we will not tolerate harm coming to them.” she said.

2020 Wimbledon Grand Slam cancelled

For the first time since World War Two, Wimbledon has been cancelled due the coronavirus pandemic.

“The Championships 2020 will be cancelled due to public health concerns linked to the coronavirus epidemic,” Wimbledon said in a statement posted to Twitter.

“The 134th Championships will instead be staged from 28 June to 11 July 2021.” the statement added.

Eight-time Wimbldon Champion, Roger Federer followed up on twitter with simply “Devastated”.

The decision stems from Britain being in a nationwide lockdown that has been enforced since the 23rd of March.
