Artania ignored orders: Border Force

The German cruise ship Artania ignored orders to leave the Fremantle Port, according to an Australian Border Force (ABF) spokesman.

The german cruise ship carrying passengers infected with the Coronavirus has refused the order to leave despite still having 12 passengers still on board.

“We’ve got a responsibility to those passengers to ensure the West Australian health system gives them the available attention to ensure that they don’t – if I could put this bluntly – die on the voyage home because they’ve not received proper attention,” The ABF spokesman told 6PR radio.

Despite the Australian Border Force confirming the Artania ignored orders to leave, Federal Attorney-General Christian Porter told 6PR they weren’t required to leave immediately.

Fremantle Ports confirmed the schedule time for departure at midday on Friday.
