The 10x NBL Champions may be locked out of their RAC Arena home for the playoffs due to a Kylie Minogue concert.
The Perth Wildcats were informed late yesterday afternoon that they will be forced to play their play in final game next week at the Perth High Performance Centre (Formally known as Challenge Stadium) if they beat Adelaide on Friday night. Due to RAC Arena booking out an entire week for the upcoming Kylie Minogue concert on the 15th of February.
Wildcats’ owner Mark Arena was left furious as he felt that RAC Arena had not kept home court advantage for the playoffs. Minogue announced her Australian tour back in September and locked in Perth as her first stop on her tour.
After Friday nights final game of the season and the Bryan Adam’s concert on Sunday the Arena will be handed over to the Australian pop princess for the next six days. It means if the Cats win, they finish third and will host a play in game on Tuesday at their former venue Challenge Stadium, which only has a capacity of 4,500 meaning a majority of the 11,000 members will miss out on the game.
Mark Arena went on to say “I’m super disappointed and Angry”
The Wildcats have not played at the Mt Claremont venue since 2012, But the venue does hold many memories for veteran Jesse Wagstaff, who won his first out six championships there as a rookie back in 2010 where the cats snapped a 10-year run without a championship.
