Will Toby get off scot-free?
By Jevan Collins
Toby Greene is one of those players that play his football on a knifes edge, as he seems to do it outside of the rules, but it was Saturday nights elimination final that tipped fans over the edge after a brain fade from Toby Greene after already being fined this year for touching an umpire and coming off a suspension after head high contact on cats’ star Patrick Dangerfield.
In Saturday’s elimination final against Sydney at Utas Stadium at 3 quarter as the players were coming in for the huddle Toby Greene made a B line for umpire Matt Stevic where it appeared that he made a forceful hip and shoulder contact with the umpire, Greene was very apologetic after the game about his brain fade. But potentially the rest of his season and his teams’ fate to win a maiden premiership fall in the hand of MRO Michael Christian who will make a decision on Tuesday night about whether Greene is allowed to line up for the Giants in Friday Semi-Final against the Cats at Optus Stadium.
In a surprise to know, one Toby Greene has pleaded guilty to making forceful contact with an umpire, But Matt Stevic has come out Tuesday morning and said “ I considered the contact minor and did not feel threatened at the time” but will this be enough to overturn Michael Christian decision and give Toby Greene a fine and allow him to play in Friday nights semi- final
