Optus announced as Grand Final Venue
By Jevan Collins
Optus Stadium will host the 2021 AFL Grand Final after being the backup venue to the MCG if the venue was unable to host the grand final after victories high Covid numbers this year.
This will be the second year that the big dance will not be the MCG due to Covid last year when it was played at the Gabba being the first Grand final since 1991 not to be played at the MCG.
The MCC has signed a 2-year contract extension until 2059 after they signed a contract in 2018 saying that all AFL grand finals will be at the MCG as the past 2 years can not be met due to Covid hence the reason for the contract extension
