It’s hard to stay quiet about Krasinski’s new horror!
A Quiet Place Part II is a spectacular sequel to the first film, with director John Krasinski once again delivering a perfect example of why silence is so powerful, not only in cinema but in the world we live in. Millicent Simmonds (Regan) shines in this film, making us gasp at every step, word or action that takes place. Krasinski brings us into Regan’s world by at times completely removing audio from the film, offering an immersive experience that shows just how helpless these characters are. With a star cast including Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy, A Quiet Place Part II shows us exactly why this film is exclusively in cinemas.
While A Quiet Place Part II can’t quite top its predecessor, Krasinski gives the audience enough jump scares and intense, heart clenching moments to leave you wanting more. The score is brilliant and really accentuates the incredible atmosphere that both films create. At times, the pacing seemed slow, but that was completely overshadowed by the emotional intimacy between the characters that is delivered by such a great performance from these actors.
This film quite persuasively shows us a believable post-apocalyptic situation that is landscaped perfectly for the events that occur. It’s hard not to draw similarities to the current pandemic but with such a fulfilling ending, it’s hard not to love this film. A Quiet Place Part II is most brilliant in its intense moments as the cinema experience becomes unmissable – every popcorn crunch and drink sip can be heard because of how helpless and scared this film makes you feel. The creatures are designed to strike fear into viewers, and are made even more scary when realising John Krasinski himself helped play these beasts.
Overall, A Quiet Place Part II delivers an incredible cinema experience that leaves audiences in anticipation of what’s next, and with the acting, music, and of course silence in full effect, it’s hard to stay quiet about A Quiet Place Part II.
