14 June – 14 July
With ten unique songs recorded to showcase the rich vein of music talent running through the Goldfields, WAM’s Sounds Of The Goldfields compilation is now a Feature Album on BOOM Radio.
Along with guest sessions from Eskimo Joe’s Joel Quartermain (Wastelands Studio), Sounds Of The Goldfields saw award-winning engineers Matt Gio (Rada Studios) and Sean Lillico (Fur Real Studio) working with Goldfields artists to create ten fresh tracks, the Soundtown pop-up studio in Kalgoorlie achieving stellar results, covering everything from rock’n’roll to country, soul, hip hop, indie rock, blues and roots, electro-pop and beyond. Mastered by William Bowden (King Willy Sound, responsible for putting the finishing touches to such hits as Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know), he’s acclaimed this CD as a huge step forward in the series.
Sounds Of The Goldfields project coordinator Nigel Bird said, “Regional Western Australia is laden with outstanding songwriters and musicians, and combining them with professional producers at the top of their game has brought seriously impressive results. This is the eighth ‘Sounds Of’ project we’ve completed, and it’s the strongest yet.”
