West Coast Eagles defender Jeremy McGovern has signed a five-year contract extension with West Coast. It was rumoured that McGovern was weighing up big-money offers from several clubs, including other Western Australian team Fremantle, but said he had always intended to stay with the Eagles. The deal will have him playing for the club until 2023.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity the club has given me, and it was a gut decision to extend my contract. It would have been nice to have locked it away a bit earlier, but these things take time.” He said on Monday.
McGovern will reportedly earn in excess of $1 million a year and become the highest paid player in West Coast history!
