The Geremy Jasper film “Patti Cake$” is a story about a young ambitious female rapper that dreams of escaping her small town hard life to become a star. The young rapper struggles to break into the industry as she is heavily criticised for being white and plus sized, but her self love and support from her ‘misfit’ friends helps her to keep striving to achieve her dreams.
The leading lady, Danielle Macdonald who plays Patti Cake$, brings a rare feeling of relatability to the film. She has flaws and imperfections just like everyone else, but proves that you don’t need some crazy make-over or to change everything about yourself to achieve your dreams, no matter what anyone else says. This film is one of the most realistic film’s I have seen in a very long time.
Patti Cake$ is a film for everyone out there who has been told that they’ll never achieve their dreams. It’s a film that shows that it doesn’t matter who you are, what you look like, where you’re from, but that you can achieve your dreams. I rate this film as a 4/5 and a definite must see.
