Another week of AFL down and let’s just say another week of upsets, in what is shaping to be one of the most intense AFL seasons to date. On Friday Night, we had Geelong face Sydney at Simmonds Stadium and it might be time to admit…. No Dangerwood, No Geelong!!!!
On Super Saturday, as per the normality now days there were 5 games, we saw GWS V.S. Melbourne from the nation’s capital. It was the Demons who stormed out of the block booting the first 3 goals of the game…. But that is where it ended as they conceded the final 8 goals of the opening quarter going down by 34 Points.
Also the Essendon and Carlton match went per script but not until the last quarter, or should I say the last 4 minutes of the game, with the Bombers kicking the last 4 goals to steal it from the Blues.
The twilight game saw Brisbane taking on last year’s reigning premiers at home. The Lions came back from a deficit that had many thinking that this would be another smashing…. They ended up only going down by 14 points in a very gallant effort.
Game 5 and 6
The Saturday night games were some of the worst standard of AFL footy that anyone has seen in quite a long time, so I am not even going to explain these games as much as I should. Collingwood thrashed North Melbourne by 54 points and Freo beat Gold Coast by 23 points.
Game 7, 8 and 9
The West Coast Eagles had another last quarter fadeout in a blistering game against the Saints on Sunday by 8 points, and the Tigers were far too strong for the Hawks by 29 and Adelaide lifted the Showdown trophy once again by thrashing the Port Adelaide Power by 84 points further questioning their form with top 8 teams and meaning they are still yet to beat a current positional top 8 side in Season 2017.
